My Day JobDuring the day, I work at Oklahoma State University in the College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology. I'm Director of Student Academic Services, and I supervise the academic advising, career services, prospective student services, and graduation certification for the college.
Before working in CEAT (that's the abbreviation for my college), I spent 17 years advising undergraduate students in the College of Education, and before that, 7 years in High School and College Relations (now Admissions). I've worked with literally thousands of students over the years, taught freshman orientation class, advised student organizations, and much more. Before going to work for OSU, I was Marketing Coordinator for Red River Ski Area in Red River, New Mexico. I learned a ton from my boss, Drew Judycki, and though I only spent a short time there, I loved every minute of it. Here's a link to my web page for OSU. My CompanyMy small business is called CollegePrep-101. Through it, I help students prepare for and succeed in college. I own three web sites, CollegePrep-101, College Answer Guy, and Go to College Cheaper (URL's below), and have published College Prep 101 (now in it's second edition) and How to Go to College Cheaper.
I work with college students every day, and learn new things virtually every day. For about three years, I wrote a weekly column in the Stillwater NewsPress, entitled College Answer Guy, and that's where much of the collegeanswerguy.com web site came from. I get contacted with questions from high school students and their parents regularly, seeking advice and direction with the college preparation and transition process. In addition, periodically, I'm contacted by members of the media with questions or asking for an interview on some college prep or college transition topic. I also recently started a web design business called Stillwater Web Solutions. Visit my web sites: |
