Lance's EducationSCHOOL
I have benefited from both public and private school education. In elementary school, I attended school in both Bartlesville, OK, and London, England. In Bartlesville, I attended Garfield and Jefferson Elementary Schools, both public and both now closed (I don't think either's closure is related to my attendance). In London, I attended the American School in London (ASL), a private K-12 school. I spent five years in London because my Dad worked for an oil company that was drilling for oil in the North Sea. I also attended Central Junior High School, College High School, and finally, Bartlesville High School. I graduated from Bartlesville High School, in Bartlesville, OK in 1984. I attended college at Oklahoma State University, in Stillwater, OK. I graduated with both Bachelor's and Master's degrees from OSU (BS in Recreation Management, Minor in Business Administration, MS in Natural and Applied Sciences). I earned my BS in 1988, and his MS in 1999. At this point, I'm not considering completing a doctorate due to my involvement in my children's educations and all of their activities. MOST MEANINGFUL EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE My most meaningful educational experience happened when I was in 4th grade. My family had planned a week-long trip to Egypt, and I knew my teacher, Janet Blum, would be excited about it - she was a real Egypt nut! When I got to school, I went right up to her and told her about the trip that would start that weekend. Miss Blum immediately told me I wouldn't be doing what everyone else in class would be doing that week. I was to go immediately to the library and check out every book they had on Egypt! I brought back a large stack of books, and spent the week studying about Egypt, under the guidance of an expert. Everything I saw and did during that trip, I had already heard of and read about - the Great Pyramids at Giza, the Sphinx, the Valley of the Kings, King Tut's Tomb, the Step Pyramid, etc. It was one of the most memorable trips of my life. |
